The theme for this year’s conference is “Ensuring urban health and well-being in the face of the global financial crisis" and presentations and sessions will be framed to reflect this.

The programme will include plenary, parallel and seminar-type sessions, as well as the Alison Chesney and Eddie Killoran Memorial Lecture. There will be ample opportunities for networking and informal discussions, including a reception after the lecture. There are also opportunities for side events, details of which will be announced via regular e-mail alerts and posted on this page as well.

The programme committee will shape the agenda for the conference and have already identified some topics for sessions:

  • Cities – generators of urban health and wellbeing
  • Innovative urban programmes in a time of financial crisis
  • Leadership, partnership and ownership of health and health interventions
  • The health dividend of the city
  • Science and evidence serving public health
  • Health challenges in the Mediterranean region
  • Measuring health and well-being – citizen participation
  • Rethinking the healthy city
  • Citizenship and health equity

The list is not exhaustive and the committee would welcome any additional suggestions for topics, or speakers. Please contact them at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
